After a good review the other day, we headed back down to Kuhio Beach Park for more sun and surf. The girls quickly got back down to the water and planned out their day.
However, I had other plans. I had been watching all the dudes out on their boards for a few days now. I decided that a good way to get out in the action would be to get a hold of a long board and paddle Sydney and I out there. So I rented a board and then talked Sydney into the adventure. We jumped on and paddled our way out…way out. Luckily, the surf was pretty tame out there and the water was not that deep. We sat and bounced around. Tried to paddle with a few waves and got a tad of action going.
We caught a slightly bigger wave and it had us fishtailing through the waves and then wipeout! We were capsized. I popped up and grabbed Sydney. I was standing on the ocean floor only about shoulders deep. Good save but that shook Sydney up a little bit. We paddled on.
Finally, she was getting cold as it had started to rain on us a bit. We headed for shore.
That evening we had a big outing — a luau! We sat right in the front row so the girls could watch the show. There were a few chances for crowd learning and participation so they jumped right up on stage to get their hula on.
