Spa Party
Nothing better than a neighbor taking up the blogging duties for the day.
So with that, I give you — The Spa Party.

Back to Glenwood Springs
After Mount Evans, we decided to continue our annual tradition of getting out of town for the rest of the weekend. So we once again headed out to Glenwood Springs. This is our 3rd summer in a row visiting this mountain town. We hit the hot springs pool the first day and finished up the evening with a lavish dinner. Everyone crashed hard that night since we had been awake since 4:30 AM for the race. Here is my obligatory panoramic shot of the city from up high.
The next day, we headed the the kid’s favorite spot: Glenwood Caverns Adventure Park. This is an amusement park built around a set of caves. The caves are really the attraction but once you have seen them — you have seen them. So the kids got there wristbands on and spent the day running from ride to ride to ride. Usually, it is super hot and the lines are long. However, today, the lines were short and the weather was sunny, yet cool. A great day to spend at the park! The big hit there is always the alpine coaster. Lost track of how many times we rode it!
Coming in 2nd was the maze. The kids did it over and over and over. Sydney’s best time was 6 minutes. I tried it once myself and got 4 minutes.
However, Peep found a new favorite thing! Why does she have that waist belt on? You will have to watch the video to find out.
Check out the live action!

Only one more small vacation to go with only the 2 little girls!
Then the 3rd one is going to pop out and join us for the fun!

Mountain Day Camp: Day 1
I had the pleasure of escorting Sydney to camp this morning. I dropped her off at the door and wished her luck and hoped for a good time. She was shy at drop-off but I knew that would change as kids arrived.
After picking her up, I grabbed my camera to get the video diary of the day. Sydney gets tired of telling everyone over and over what she did that day. So I said — tell us once on video! She loved the idea.

Not 30 seconds after the video was over, she was asleep in her chair.

Money Maker
This Friday and Saturday was our annual neighborhood garage sale. With all the reorganization going on to make room for baby we had a good amount of cleaning out to do. The girls even went through their rooms to make some extra dough. Sydney was so excited for the big event. Great Grandma Mimi would have been so proud.
Sydney even came up with the idea to have a lemonade stand. She decided to donate the lemonade sales to the Humane Society and keep the garage sales for something new for herself. All and all she had a good turnout. About $10 for the kitties and $10 for herself. That’s a lot of dough for this 6 year old.

Princess Dance Camp
The second camp of the summer is complete. Both girls were really excited about this one. Dancing, princesses, crafts… how could you possibly go wrong with an itinerary like that. I got to camp about 5 minutes early today to watch the last few minutes of dancing. They were playing freeze dance. Reagan seemed to be glued to Sydney at all times. I think Sydney was flattered by the attention. Let’s hope these feelings last.

Dora Live!
Sydney saw Dora Live once before when she was 2 years old. Time to go again. This one was more for Reagan but Sydney can’t miss her old true bud.
Sydney is out of Dora these days so no costume for her. So she opted for the princess dress. This worked out well because everybody said, “Look! There is Snow White.” Kind of a change in the sea of Doras.
However, Sydney is way on to this. She is 6, I guess. We were talking pre-show and she said Dora isn’t real and these are just people dressed up like the cartoon. Oh really? Then I tried to say that Boots the Monkey was a real monkey. She said no way to that because he had human colored skin with make-up on. She could tell. She also insists on explaining this “fraud” to Reagan who is blissfully unaware. I think.

Zoo Camper
The first camp of the summer is complete. Zoo Camp was an exciting week of animal encounters. Sydney was there each day for the morning. However, this week was wet and cold for a normal June week. But that worked out OK because the animals were out instead of hiding in the shade.
Many more camps yet to come this summer!

Yuck
I took Sydney and Reagan out for dinner last night by myself while Kim rested. We went to Red Robin. When we sat down, I swear they both said they wanted Mac-n-Cheese. The usual protocol is to circle what you want. However, the kids disappeared into the restroom for about 10 minutes so I just went ahead and ordered. The girls being in the bathroom for 10+ minutes is not unusual. So the food comes and Sydney says she isn’t eating that. I paid for it! Eat some. Will give the rest as leftovers to Reagan, the Mac-n-Cheese vacuum. So she does.
After leaving, we had to run over to The Home Depot to get a filter. I wanted to just run in quick but Sydney said she now had a “tummy ache” so she needed to go the bathroom. Didn’t we just leave a restaurant where it would have been quick? It is all the way in the back in The Home Depot. Oh well. So we go to the bathroom. Again, I wait 10 minutes outside. She came out but didn’t seem like she had done much other than sitting there. So we walked to the filter aisle. On the way, she bends over and does a small puke right there in the aisle. Geez! Ok…we go running back to the bathroom again. Dads (at least me) aren’t as calm as Moms probably are.
So I wait outside the bathroom for minutes. Reagan went in as well for the duration. I heard crying after a bit so I peeked inside. A woman was washing her hands. Sorry about that! She said to come in. I went in and found Reagan having a severe wiping malfunction. Not normal but not unusual I suppose for 4. Fixed that. Where is Sydney? I go back to the back handicapped stall and she is sitting there on the big throne with a major (not small this time) pile of puke next to the toilet. What the hell? She threw up while sitting on the toilet. I spent most of the next few minutes ranting about how she should get off the toilet and puke in it. This was lost on her given her current state — and probably because she is 6.
We cleaned up what we could and geared up for the trek out. Grabbed some paper towels just in case. We walked through the store briskly. I rubbed her back on the way and felt bad about jumping on her. Got to the self-checkout. I had one filter. Scanned it. Threw it in the bag. Scanned my credit — BLAAAAAAAAH — card. She just puked again right in the self-checkout. Damn it all. I signed the reader and then took the paper towels and covered the mess as I could. An employee saw it and walked over and gave her one of those big 5 gallon orange buckets. “You puke it this, sweetheart”, he said. Could have used that 10 minutes ago!
We exited and got in the car. I instructed her to puke in the bucket only and not in my truck or bad things are going to happen. Luckily, no action.
We got home and she went inside carrying her bucket. Reagan got in the door and proclaimed to Mom that “we got some really bad news”. I made Syd carry the orange bucket through her nightly routine of shower, brushing, etc. She slept with it by her bed.
She just left for zoo camp and suddenly wasn’t feeling good again. I made her take her bucket. Not sure if she was going to go to camp or not. Reagan was screaming because we were all making her late for camp. So we will see if she went. Hope she doesn’t scare the animals dragging that bucket around.
