The Rainman
My daughter now has become the Rainman — the movie, remember? We have been telling her things and she tends to repeat them to herself over and over as she learns them.
My favorite happens every day. Kim and I keep telling Sydney that “Daddy is working”. Trying to keep her from coming in my office every 2 minutes to show me a picture, piece of lint, or other finding. So often Sydney will stand at my door and look at me and repeat over and over:
Daddy’s werrkin…
Daddy’s werrkin…
Daddy’s werrkin…

Heavy Machinery
My daughter is into heavy machinery! Her Grandpa Herbie should be so proud. While working this week, I brought Sydney over to the site so she could see a “dig dig”. Oh, boy — she got to get on the dig dig. Sitting in the operator’s chair was too much for her though.

Find the Ne Ne
Syd and Mama have been playing a new game lately. We call it Find the Mama. I hide throughout the house and Ne Ne tries to find me. She walks around saying hmm and holding her finger to her chin in confusion. Then when she finds Mama she runs to me with full force and just giggles. I am trying to get Syd to do the hiding now but she doesn’t quite understand the game. I tell her to go hide and without fail, time after time, she hides in the same place over and over. Now you be the judge. Does this really look like a very concealed hiding spot? Kinda seems a little out in the open to me. But, it sure does make the Mama laugh.

I should tell you that Syd has added one more hiding spot since this game started a few days ago. She just sits on the floor in the middle of the living room. I think the original spot may be a little better now that I think about it.

Hi Boots
Ok, I think this picture needs a little info. Daddy didn’t add it so Mama will tell you the scoop. Two weekends ago we took Syd to see her idol perform live on stage. Mama out did herself with the tickets on this one. We were about four rows back from the stage. Syd had no clue what was going on. We kept telling her we were going to go see Dora and she would look at us like we were crazy. But, then the lights dimmed, the curtains went away and there was Boots the Monkey, center stage doing the splits on his head. Then came Dora, Isa the Iguana, Benny the Bull, Tico the Squirrel, Swiper the Fox, Diego and baby jaguar. She didn’t know what the heck to think of all this. She just stared in confusion and then all of a sudden lit up. “Oh, its Doh, its Doh.” We couldn’t get her to say a word to us during the show. She was in a trance as she watched her idol sing and dance in front of her very eyes. Needless, to say it was a hit. I think Mama and Daddy liked watching the look on her face almost as much as she liked the show.

Beach Time
We took everyone over to the reservoir today for some beach time. I made Sydney a chair to sit in.

As kayaks would go by, Sydney always had to yell, “Look! Its a boat!”.

Sydney doesn’t like getting in more than waist deep because she feels like she is going to fall. I keep pushing her deeper. Finally, I gave up and just took her out the easy way.

Fairy Princess
Syd spent most of today playing outside in the sandbox. Needless to say she was quite the mess when it was time to come inside. So we threw her and her guys, the Dora figurines, in the shower with Mama. Afterwards, Mommy decided it was time for Syd to be a little more girly for a change. I think she makes an adorable little fairy princess, don’t you?

She thought it was funny to wave her wand at Daddy. She won’t tell me what spell she cast on him.
