200th Entry
First off, as I was starting this post I noticed that this will be the sites 200th entry. My how time flies.
We are home again and Syd is already asking where we are going next. So, I booked tickets to go see Grandma and Grandpa Coburn and Aunt Sara in Sarasota this April. While there, we will also see Great Grandma at her condo in Fort Myers. We are going to be there Spring Break week so Uncle Dave, Aunt Steph and cousins Ed, Ryan, and Christian will also be coming down for a visit. I tried to talk Syd into visiting at a less hectic time but she insisted on partying with all the Spring Breakers. Geez, you take a kid to Vegas for her first New Year’s and she is suddenly all about the next party. I will try my hardest to keep her away from all the young men for CJ.
Dad also just bought Nascar tickets for the Richmond race in May. Mom and Syd decided to sit this race out. I feel Syd is still too young to be introduced to all those sleeveless T’s, gold teeth and mullets. We are still tagging along for the ride and plan to spend the days sightseeing around the capital. Mom has always wanted to see D.C. and thought this was a great chance to start Syd on her career planning. Can you say… Yes, Ms. President Sydney?
Thought we should keep you up to date on all the new things Syd is attempting. She can now stand up on her own from anywhere. No more need for a table to pull herself up. She now can do this from the middle of the floor without assistance. Of course, this was not good enough she is also trying to take a step once up. Though this is very hard and she is no where close to this attempt. She will have to live with walking around holding onto Mommy’s hands for now. Syd is also eating all sorts of food now. She is tired of baby food and is now eating diced fruits and veggies, any kind of cookie or cracker, and Gerber meat sticks. She now begs (screams) for whatever we are eating as well.
Lastly, she had her 9 month checkup a couple of weeks ago and here are her stats. She weighs 16 lbs. 12 oz. which puts her at the 20th percentile. Her length is at 28 inches right around the 70th percentile. So, she is one long skinny little girl. With this Syd wanted me to add that all you people talking smack about her dating a younger man should now hush. According to the latest post, CJ now weighs in at just over 19 pounds and is about the same length. For being over 3 months younger he is quite the little beefcake, just what Syd loves.

King of the World
We took Sydney on a dinner cruise with the whale foundation here. Figured if we were going to see some whales, these would be the folks to show us.

Sydney was getting a buzz off of all the pineapple and guava juice she was drinking. At one point she demanded to be put down near the front of the boat. She stood against the rail and did her Titanic “King of the World” impression.

Beach Bunny
Sydney is starting to figure out that sand is fun to play in. So she will do whatever it takes to get to the beach. Even cross the hot sidewalk.

Grandma bought her a bag of sand toys to play with. Hopefully, this distracts her from eating the sand.

Get Me Out of Here
Today, we subjected Sydney to a full day of car travel around the island. We started from the condo at 10 AM and drove all the way around the southern part of the island finishing back home around 8 PM. Dad has the full story. Sydney did great!

I wanted to swim with Dad at the pools.

The Road to Kahakuloa
We drove around Northern Maui today. Many scenic places to stop and pose for pictures. Sydney slept nearly the whole trip.

Sunset in Lahaina
Today was another action packed day. Not really. Sydney slept on the beach for most of the morning while the ladies tanned. The sun is pretty hot, Natalee — sorry. Later in the day, we headed over to Lahaina. It had been at least 24 hours since the ladies shopped. You can’t have Indiana ladies out of stores that long or they might go crazy. It started raining later in the evening but it didn’t stop the tourists.

My First Day at the Beach
Today was a beach day. Sydney fell asleep in her first few minutes. After waking up, Mom took her down to the water but the wind and loud waves were a little much.

Dad and Mom took Sydney for her first swim today. At first, Syd didn’t like the water much. It was a little cold. Then Mom kept putting her further and further in. We gave her a rubber ducky, like the ones she takes her baths with, and that made it all better. Finally, Syd ended up on this floaty which allowed her to lick the water now and then. It was like bathing in a big sippie cup. Fun!

Welcome to Paradise
We survived the 8 hours of flying and made it to Maui. Its very warm but a bit windy today. Everyone is feeling great but relaxing after the long travel day.

Why We Need Flood Insurance
Sydney has learned a new trick that is bound to get us into trouble. See for yourself!

Give It Back
Sydney had another play date with CJ today. You might remember the first date they had. CJ is now almost 6 months old and is starting to get more involved with the world. We entertained CJ with Sydney’s toys. Until Sydney decided that these were her toys and started taking them away from CJ once he got interested in them. Do we have a sharing problem already?

Then being the bossy woman that she is, Syd showed CJ that you must pay attention to your woman at all times.
