Happy Halloween
Well, Halloween is finally here. Aunt Amy provided the costume of choice this year. So be very afraid…here is the Great Pumpkin Sydney!

Sydney was testing the candy for quality and such…

Sydney’s best friend is Boo. I want to put Boo away after today because I am tired of the noises he makes — like shouting “Happy Halloween”. But I think Mom & Sydney have plans to put Boo in Christmas hat or something and keep him around because he provides too much instant laughter.

And Kim couldn’t resist this.

Jump Around
Well, this is the new hit. Why didn’t we buy this sooner? You can leave her alone for a long time and you know she is still alive because you can hear the spring flexing. Oddly, we only have 3 places to hang the Johnny Jumper on the ground floor of the house: the laundry room, the bathroom, and Dad’s office door. So, Sydney is going to have fun in the bathroom.

My First Date
Today was a busy day. Sydney went to the hair salon and had her first haircut. She had to get all made up for her big date tonight. We saved the hair — I guess that is something parents are supposed to do. She now has the most beautiful bowl haircut. How do you style a baby’s hair anyway?
Our friends, Chad & Becky White, had Baby CJ about 2 months ago. We tracked each other through the pregancies. So today was the big baby meet-up. Actually, for the first time I have ever seen, these babies were actually very curious about each other.

Later Sydney decided to be forward and she started making out with CJ.

What’s Up
Dad is in California today so no new pictures. However, we thought we should update you all on what is new with Syd. She has tried all of her veggies (peas, green beans, spinach, squash, sweet potatoes and carrots) and loves every one of them. Her favorites are peas and sweet potatoes, but will eat any of them. Fruits have been a whole other story so far. She hasn’t eaten a fruit that she really likes so far. Applesauce, pears and bananas are tolerable in very small amounts before the lips are held tightly closed. Peaches are hated! She gags when she eats peaches, not sure if that is a genuine reaction or she is acting it up. AM she gets cereal and I try to get her to eat a little fruit. PM she gets a veggie and I try again with a little fruit. She starts with a sippie cup in a few weeks after her next doctor appointment.
Playtime is much more fun now. She sits up really well with her boppy/pillow behind her back. She highly prefers to play on her belly and can roll to whatever she wants to play with. She is obviously wanting to crawl but is increasingly frustrated because she can not do it yet. She can get up on her back legs but can’t get the movement of the front arms at all. She will lay on her belly and throw arms and legs around dramatically while screming because she can’t get to the toy a few inches in front of her. She is definitely wanting to crawl to stuff over rolling around to it. Her little tantrums are funny now. Hopefully, they aren’t a sign of what she will do when she doesn’t get her way in a few months.
She loves toys that she can make talk or sing to her. Especially her leap frog piano which she can play on her own. She also loves for us to read her books. Her favorite by far is ‘Brown Bear, brown bear, what do you see’ a gift from the Burkes.
Syd is still a very happy baby and loves meeting new people. She is a ham in public to whoever will talk to her and easily rewards them with a big smile and giggle. She is also becoming much more interested in little kids especially. She also LOVES our cats and dogs. They are learning to run from her now because she pulls out their hair.
Last of all she has finally figured out that the guy hanging out around here all the time is pretty cool. She loves to just stare at Daddy. Not sure what she is thinking when she strares at him. Oh, and she loves to type on his keyboard when he holds her. We are starting her early.

Are We There Yet?
Sydney slept pretty much the whole time during the 10 hour drive back from Kansas City today.

Kansas City
Sydney and Mom cruised around Kansas City for the past few days. Here they are in the city square area near the hotel and convention center.

Party at the Holiday Inn
Live and late from Hays, Kansas, Miss Sydney is wide awake. This bed is very cool because there is a mirror next to it that she uses to check herself out in. Hopefully she goes to bed soon. Although, she slept the whole way here.

Bundle Up
Its been pretty warm so far this fall in Longmont, but tonight we are supposed to have our first frost. So for our nightly walk, Mom took extra care to bundle the baby up.

Farmer Jane
Let me explain how we got to this name and the picture. Today, we went to the mall because Mom and Dad needed some things. Sydney was good until Dad was buying pants and we noticed an odor. Sydney had an accident in her diaper that jumped the fence and went onto the rest of her clothes. Now normally, we do carry the backup clothes but for some reason not today. So Sydney became the hillbilly with no shirt on with overalls. It was 85 out so she wasn’t cold. Sydney’s favorite toy/book right now is the Jungle Jane book from cousin Polly. So we started calling her Jane instead of Sydney the Hillbilly. When we got back home, Sydney loves to sit all by herself in the front yard and play with the grass. So here is Farmer Jane in her field of zoysia.

Bath Time
Sydney is sitting up in the bath now. The blue bar is properly placed so this site does not become X-rated.

Happy Birthday, Grandpa
Sydney wanted to give a shout out to Grandpa on his birthday.

Sydney loves to play in the saucer now. Check out how she stands up it in!

My First Offroad Experience
Little Miss Sydney is getting around — Hummer-style. Today, we took Sydney out offroading with a bunch of our Hummer friends. Read Dad’s blog for more on the adventure. Here we are in front of some of the pretty Aspens that blanket the countryside this time of year.

The Hummer turned into a big version of her favorite vibrating chair as the road got rougher. Sydney proceeded to fall asleep for most of the ride while Mom and Dad hung on. From time to time, Sydney got to look out of the window.

Oh and by the way, she wasn’t the youngest baby on the trip by about 20 days!
