Sabine
Another baby was born in the family only a month after Sydney. Her name is Sabine. She is the daughter of Nicole Croy, Brandon’s cousin. Actually, we had all the members of the Bruck clan there: Nicole, Laura, Kevin, and Tara. Lois Fuller dropped in as well to meet Sydney.
Of course, everyone always thinks its fun to get babies together to stare at other babies. But the Winnie the Poo cake was all that was interesting most of the time for the babies.

Lake Wawasee
Sydney’s first visit to the lake. Aunt Natalee was very excited to meet Sydney — being a first time auntie. She even put Peanut down for about minute to hold her.

Later in the evening, Grandma Fuller decided to play dress up with Sydney. Here was a glamour shot in her “Elton John” sunglasses. Why do people have so much fun dressing up babies?

First Visit to Wawasee
Sydney will be heading to the lake for the first time this weekend. Maybe she will dip her toes and Mom will take some pictures. Drop by if you are in the neighborhood!

Sydney Has Arrived
After more fun with flights, Sydney is now in Fort Wayne hanging out with Christian. Unfortunately, Mom & Sydney did not get their bags so if you see them you may notice an odor because they have been in the same clothes for a few days. Thanks again, United.
Oh, by the way, Fort Wayne folks, this graphic on your bureau of tourism’s web site isn’t the most compelling. Normally, you would like to see a real picture of the town versus this cartoon of your fort, mall, and some other building I don’t recognize. What’s with the airplane in the background? Air transportation has come to Fort Wayne I guess.

Flight Update
Wouldn’t you just know that on the first flight Sydney takes, they get delayed on the runway for 2 hours! They ended up missing their connection in Chicago. So Mom & Syd are held up in the airport Hilton in Chicago. They will get into the Fort in the morning. The story was that Sydney was wonderful on the flight even during the delay. Amazing.
My First Airplane Ride
Well, Mom & Sydney left today for Sydney’s first airplane ride to Fort Wayne, Indiana. They took the camera so Dad will not have any photos for you for a little while but that should be OK since many of you will see her in person soon. If you see Sydney, make sure you get Mom to take a picture of you with Sydney because when they return we will be posting all the pictures to share.

Hey, That’s Our Kid
The Burkes were visiting and of course they knew all the tricks to keep Sydney happy. Kim & Brandon kept going “well, Sydney likes this” and at that moment, she did not. We sounded stupid. The truth is Sydney has changed the rules over the last few weeks and Mom & Dad are remembering the earlier and more peaceful times. Next time the Burkes visit, they are required to bring Ajaye so the girls can play!

Baby 1, 2, 3
Advice we were sent….
Being a parent changes everything. But being a parent also changes with each baby. Here are some of the ways having a second and third child is different from having your first.
Your Clothes
1st baby: You begin wearing maternity clothes as soon as your OB/GYN confirms your pregnancy.
2nd baby: You wear your regular clothes for as long as possible.
3rd baby: Your maternity clothes ARE your regular clothes.
Preparing for the Birth
1st baby: You practice your breathing religiously.
2nd baby: You don’t bother practicing because you remember that last time, breathing didn’t do a thing.
3rd baby: You ask for an epidural in your 8th month.
The Layette
1st baby: You pre-wash your newborn’s clothes, color-coordinate them, and fold them neatly in the baby’s little bureau.
2nd baby: You check to make sure that the clothes are clean and discard only the ones with the darkest stains.
3rd baby: Boys can wear pink, can’t they?
Worries
1st baby: At the first sign of distress-a whimper, a frown-you pick up the baby.
2nd baby: You pick the baby up when her wails threaten to wake your firstborn.
3rd baby: You teach your 3-year-old how to rewind the mechanical swing.
Pacifier
1st baby: If the pacifier falls on the floor, you put it away until you can go home and wash and boil it.
2nd baby: When the pacifier falls on the floor, you squirt it off with some juice from the baby’s bottle.
3rd baby: You wipe it off on your shirt and pop it back in.
Diapering
1st baby: You change your baby’s diapers every hour, whether they need it or not.
2nd baby: You change their diaper every 2 to 3 hours, if needed.
3rd baby: You try to change their diaper before others start to complain about the smell or you see it sagging to their knees.
Activities
1st baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics, Baby Swing, and Baby Story Hour.
2nd baby: You take your infant to Baby Gymnastics.
3rd baby: You take your infant to the supermarket and the dry cleaner.
Going Out
1st baby: The first time you leave your baby with a sitter, you call home 5 times.
2nd baby: Just before you walk out the door, you remember to leave a number where you can be reached.
3rd baby: You leave instructions for the sitter to call only if she sees blood.
At Home
1st baby: You spend a good bit of every day just gazing at the baby.
2nd baby: You spend a bit of everyday watching to be sure your older child isn’t squeezing, poking, or hitting the baby.
3rd baby: You spend a little bit of every day hiding from the children.

My Babysitting Experience
Guest blogger tonight, the baby sitter captain, Grandma Carole…
After much anticipation, the hour had finally arrived for me to begin my duties as Sydney’s babysitter. Feeling very confident with my new role, I assured the reluctant parents that we would get along fine and they should be on their way. After all, I brought along reinforcements. Mimi…my secret weapon…someone that is known for her nuturing ways among the Fuller Family.
We all had our assignments…Herb on yard duty, Mimi sewing draperies for the nursery, and Carole feeding Sydney a bottle of frozen breast milk. Around dinnertime was when I realized that Sydney had a mind of her own and her statement was “where is my mother” and “why are you trying to fool me with this rubber nipple”. Ok, time for reinforcements. Mimi rocks, sings, pats and then tries the bottle with less success then I had. There are more than one way to skin a cat…oops…excuse the pun. Would you believe spoon feeding the milk from the bottle minus the nipple! Belly full, pj’s on, stroller ride at dusk and life is good again. God has blessed us and we are thankful for the experience.
